Corsair DreamHack Masters Returning to Malmö

Corsair DreamHack Masters returning to Malmö in 2019

DreamHack has announced that it’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive series is making a return to where it all began. DreamHack will be making its return to Malmö, Sweden on October 4th-6th.

The History of the Event

The city, based in southern Sweden, hosted the first event back in 2016. The last time the event was featured in Sweden was back in 2017. The Chief Product Officer at DreamHack, Michael Van Driel commented in a release:

“Malmö was the first city to ever host DreamHack Masters and so it holds a special place in all of our hearts, including a legendary win from NiP on home soil. We are tremendously excited to bring CORSAIR DreamHack Masters back to Malmö Arena and fans can expect the best experience yet as we expand to feature matches for 3 days in the arena and continue with more improvements for the visitor experience.”

Future of DreamHack

The next event to take place in the DreamHack series will be in Dallas from May 28th – June 2nd. At both Dallas and Malmö, 16 teams will be in attendance to compete for their share of the $250,000 prize pool. Below is the list of teams attending the Dallas event:

  • Cloud9 (Invited)
  • ENCE (Invited)

Whilst the teams for the Malmö event are still unconfirmed, we should start to see invites being sent out in the near future.

It’s great to see the Corsair DreamHack Masters series make the return to where it all began. I can imagine it will be an event full of passion and memories for some, which could help create amazing storylines. If the Dallas event goes well, the hype and excitement for Malmö could reach an all-time high.
