ECS Season 5 Finals: Favourites & odds

Eight teams are finally ready to take on the main stage after an intense online season. Amongst the contenders, we see four teams from Europe and four teams from North America. Not too surprising, the Danish team Astralis is heavily favoured to bring home the victory in London after wins at both DH Marseille 2018 and ESL Pro League 7.

Two other troops that we are eager to see in action again are FaZe Cland and Fnatic. Where the first have got back it superstar Olofmeister, who took a break due to personal reasons. How this will affect the team remain to be seen, they can hopefully give Astralis a match, who’s been having it a bit too easy lately.

Fnatic, on the other hand, has acquired Xizt, which lately has been seen playing for FaZe as a substitute, quite well too actually.

Below we’ve listed the teams we believe have the biggest shot of winning ECS Season 5 Finals:

Remember, the odds might have changed since we published this article.

Astralis recent tournament appearances have been extremely one-sided where they’ve completely been toying with their opponents. However, we must say that it’s a combination of Astralis playing well, as well as other teams not playing up to their standard. If the Danes can go all the way this time too, it would be their third big tourney win in a short span of time. 2018 is looking to be the year of the Danes; it’s up to the other squads to step up their game.

Odds: Betway: 2.75 | bet365: 3.00 | Arcanebet: 3.40

FaZe is probably out for revenge as their original line-up with Olofmeister is finally completed again. Although, Xizt has done a great job replacing Olofmeister, FaZe even claimed the IEM Sydney 2018 title while having Xizt on board. But with that said, having the regular roster back together is always prefered, even if Xizt has been superb as a stand-in. With Olof back in the team, it will be extra interesting to follow ECS Season 5 Finals, as they are one of the few teams who can challenge Astralis.

Odds: Betway: 4.25 | bet365: 4.33 | Arcanebet: 3.75

The legendary team Fnatic got off to a great start this year taking home two tournament victories, and giving hopes of a new Fnatic era. Unfortunately, that didn’t quite come true, but at the same time they didn’t fell off completely either. Even though Fnatic’s past results have been far from a disaster, they still let go of Lekr0 and gave Xizt a chance. How well this works out, we’ll see in London at ECS.

Odds: Betway: 7.00 | bet365: 6.50 | Arcanebet: 6.50

Team Liquid has been performing over the expectations with TACO in the team. They went all the way to the final at ESL Pro League 7 where they lost to world number one Astralis. Right now they’re competing at StarSeries Season 5 where they’re one victory away from advancing to the playoffs. Given their current form we see them doing well at the upcoming ECS finals too.

Odds: Betway: 7.00 | bet365: 7.50 | Arcanebet: 8.50
