ESL One Cologne 2018 predictions
Not only is ESL One Cologne a prestigious CS GO tournament, but this year’s addition is extra interesting due to numerous changes amongst the participants. The most recent roster change can be found at fnatic’s camp, where both ex NiP players Xizt and draken have been given a spot. We’re psyched to see if the new Swedish line-up can give Astralis, currently the best team in the world, a run for the title.
Other teams with a clear shot of bringing home the trophy are mousesports, FaZe, Na’Vi and Liquid. As you can see, many great teams will be present in Cologne.
To give you a helping hand on which teams to bet on, we’ve taken a closer look at the best contenders. See what we came up with down below:
Beware, odds might have changed since this article was published.
Will Astralis’s winning streak end with ESL One Cologne 2018? Or will they continue their world domination? By the looks of it, they seem to be unstoppable at the moment. And given the unstable situations regarding line-ups etc for many opponents; things are looking good for Astralis heading to Germany. I think we all can agree on that this is Astralis’s event to lose, if they perform like they have been the past months, it’s pretty much a done deal.
FaZe have, despite playing with substitutes lately, managed to stay top 2 in the world. One of their most recognisable stars Olofmeister has been inactive for a while now, and it’s unclear whether or not he ever will be back. Filling up his spot is at the moment Norwegian player ‘cromen’, and before that Xizt was playing with FaZe Clan. Not playing with their original line-up is, of course, a problem and let’s hope they will perform well in Cologne anyway.
In our opinion, Team Liquid is usually very underrated, by fans, opponents and so-called experts. They’re never in the talks of teams that are likely to win an event. That’s a bit odd since they’ve shown that they are a fairly stable team and have advanced to plenty of playoffs lately. Liquid can beat almost any teams out there on a good day. They have incredible players in their squad, so if they go off, Liquid can be a force to be reckoned with at ESL One Cologne.
Mousesports is yet another team with difficulties regarding its roster. However, heading to Cologne it seems like the standard roster is back together. They attended Belo Horizonte with Jordan n0thing Gilbert on the team where they ended up second place behind FaZe Clan. An impressive run nontheless, considering they played with a stand-in. So it will be fun to see if they can do better at ESL One Cologne 2018 now that they have the original roster back together.
As most of you might recall, Fnatic started this year with two straight tournament wins. Especially the legend Flusha was playing phenomenal. But despite winning back to back events the joy didn’t last long as they soon started to look uninspired. Due to many disappointing results, changes within the team was inevitable. So this summer they have acquired both Xizt and draken – which makes the full roster JW, Flusha, Krimz, Xizt and draken. Four star players and an experienced leader in Xizt looks promising on paper, so we obviously have high hopes for this troop in Cologne.
