Tournament format

The SL i-League StarSeries S4 will feature a best-of-three Swiss stage, so, our guess is that many players and viewers will be pleased with that. A best-of-three stage eliminates the randomness of best-of-ones, so it will be interesting to see how well it pans out.

The Swiss stage will be played as follows: 16 sides and five rounds of matches where three wins will guarantee qualification for an eight-team single-elimination bracket.

StarSeries Season 4 participants

16 teams will attend StarSeries Season 4, where 10 teams were invited, and rest of them had to go through qualifiers.

The full list of participants looks as follows:

Astralis, Cloud9, FaZe, fnatic, G2, Gambit, HellRaisers, Heroic, Liquid, mousesports, MVP PK, Natus Vincere, Renegades, SK, TyLoo,

As you can see, there’s a mixture of tier 1 and tier 2-3 teams attending, that’s what you get when teams also have the opportunity to qualify for a tournament. We’re all for lesser-known teams getting a chance to go up against the world elite.

The favorites to win SL i-League StarSeries S4

Like so many times before we see a few familiar names as favorites, with one exception. First up we have FaZe and SK Gaming, nothing new there, but a team that recently has risen to the skies is Cloud9, who won the Eleague major last month.

Let’s take a closer look at the favorites (odds included):

FaZe is currently ranked as the number 1 team in the world, with SK close behind. As we all know by now they lost to Cloud9 in the amazing grand final of eleague major 2018. However, despite the loss, they’re still the team to beat right now, they have put on solid performances at so many events now that it’s hard to say anything else. They have four superstars with an amazing in-game leader, we expect them to at least reach the playoffs at SL i-League Season 4.

Betway: 4.00

SK Gaming is always dangerous and they always go far in tournaments, if not winning them. They might not be as dominant as they used to be, due to teams like FaZe and Cloud9 catching up. It’s hard not to favor SK in basically any tournament, that’s just how skilled they are. It will be a tough task stopping this squad and we can only see teams such as Cloud9 or FaZe doing it.

Betway: 4.25

Cloud9 shocked the world when they defeated FaZe in the grand final of eleague major. And what a match it was, one of the best games in the history of CSGO. We’re stoked to see if C9 can keep up with the level they displayed at the eleague major. If they manage to win in Kiev as well you can win up to 6.50 times your stake.

Betway: 6.50
