Bucharest Major 2018 participants
A total of 16 Dota 2 squads will compete at the Bucharest Major where 8 of them will advance to the playoffs starting March 9.
The competing teams are:
Team Liquid, Newbee, Evil Geniuses, Natus Vincere, Mineski, compLexity Gaming, Vici Gaming, LGD.Forever Young, Virtus.pro, Team Secret, OG, Vega Squadron, VGJ.Thunder, TNC Pro Team, OpTic Gaming and paiN Gaming.
Below we list the three teams we believe have the biggest shot at taking home the tournament. Remember, these are our own opinions and should not be considered as guaranteed wins.
Team Liquid is definitely a winning team, and they have five tournament victories backing up that statement. Thus far they have won one tournament this year, StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 4 against LGD Gaming in the final. They claimed a third place at the last major in Katowice which ended just a week ago, a placing that gave them $120,000 and 225 DPC points. As they soon will enter the PGL Bucharest Major 2018, we expect them to be super motivated since they were so close reaching the finals at the last major.
Virtus.pro is a scary team and even more frightening when in form, which they definitely are. They won ESL One Katowice 2018 and the biggest share of the 1 million dollar prize pool and 750 DPC points on top of that. The team that they defeated in the final was no other than Vici Gaming with the scoreline 3-1, a pretty convincing victory. Considering the recent major win we see Virtus.pro as the big favorites and THE team to beat at the Bucharest Major.
Team Secret finished 5th-6th at the last major in February and that placing awarded them with $50,000 but no DPC points. This skilled troop hasn’t had any luck this year so far, but they’ve shown that they can still compete against the best. They defeated Infamous and LGD Gaming last months, but fell short to fnatic, a team that they’re typically favored against. Should be able to go through to the playoffs at Bucharest. Once they’re in the playoffs, anything could happen though.
