LCS Spring Split 2019 Week 1 Preview

LCS spring split 2019 week 1

The 2019 LCS season will be the second year of the league being fully professional and franchised, but the seventh year overall.

The format will be sticking to what fans are familiar with, with 10 teams competing in a round robin group stage with six of those qualifying for playoffs and the top two teams securing a bye to the semi-finals.

The teams competing are the same as the 2018 season

  • 100 Thieves
  • Cloud9
  • Clutch Gaming
  • CLG
  • Echo Fox
  • FlyQuest
  • Golden Guardians
  • Optic Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • Team SoloMid

Much like the LEC, the LCS will have 10 games played across two days each week (Saturday and Sunday) with each team playing one match each day.

Week 1 Matches

Saturday:

  • Cloud9 vs Team Liquid
  • TSM vs 100 Thieves
  • CLG vs Optic Gaming
  • FlyQuest vs Golden Guardians
  • Echo Fox vs Clutch Gaming

Sunday:

  • FlyQuest vs Optic Gaming
  • Cloud9 vs 100 Thieves
  • CLG vs Team Liquid
  • TSM vs Clutch Gaming
  • Echo Fox vs Golden Guardians

There’s a lot of excitement heading into this Split, following huge success for some organisations through the 2018 Season it has allowed these North American teams to make some incredible signings, some of which would have refused the move to the US in the past.

Last year we got to witness 100 Thieves come in with a bang and right from the off sparked a rivalry with Team Liquid with the two battling it out across both Spring and Summer Splits. At the start of Spring 2018 Echo Fox looked incredible and at the end of Summer and during Worlds Cloud9 appeared to have made exceptional progress. I think these four teams will almost be guaranteed to make playoffs this upcoming Split.

Fans are in for a treat during Week 1, with a thrilling start to the season on the first two games on Saturday:

Cloud9 vs Team Liquid will be kicking off the action and with Team Liquid taking home both Spring and Summer Championships last year but Cloud9 making it all the way to Worlds semi-finals last year, these two could be set to battle it out for the #1 spot all year long.

TSM vs 100 Thieves is sure to be entertaining as all their past games have been. This game has the feel that it’ll either be over in 20 minutes or go for the hour-long haul as it has in the past.
