Overwatch is a team-based first-person shooter where you have access to different heroes each filling its role and with its unique playstyle. Each team consists of six players, and usually, it’s about switching between defense and attack on a map. There is also a king of the hill mode where both teams fight for control over a point on the map. Teamwork and strategy are in focus and with a large selection of heroes to pick from Overwatch is a perfect fit for esports.
ELEAGUE and Faceit are known for their leagues in CSGO and haven’t let Overwatch success go unnoticed. Together they have now collaborated to create Overwatch Open, a league with the best teams from North America and Europe will meet. The finals are played live in Turner Studios ELEAGUE arena in Atlanta. The finals will also be broadcasted live on the TV channel TBS and the winner will be taking home $100,000.
The group stages start 23rd July and end 28th August followed by playoffs 25-29th September. It will be the first large Overwatch league, and many prominent organizations have assembled teams to compete.
