Team Liquid vs NaVi (IEM Katowice 2020 Quarter-final)
With the loser of this game being eliminated from IEM Katowice, there is a lot on the line. Both teams are hoping to start of the year as strong as possible. Throughout the group stages they had their ups and downs, it will be all or nothing in this best of 3.
After finishing 2nd in Group B, many would expect Liquid to be favourites in this series, but the odds are currently in NaVi’s favour and rightly so I believe. Liquid should have had a comfortable start to the series but were pushed to overtime against Virtus.Pro before pulling off a 2-0 victory.
They went on to defeat Evil Geniuses 2-1, with both wins being considerably comfortable. Everything took a turn when they faced G2 however and they just didn’t seem to turn up. A 16-11 and 16-10 loss meant they would have to battle through an extra round in the bracket if they wanted to reach the first major grand final of the 2020 season.
There have been a lot of questions raised about the roster changes made by NaVi and how well their roster would operate. Whilst there still seems to be growing pains, they made a stronger start than normal at IEM Katowice.
Their close battle against FaZe ended 2-1 in their favour but was soon damped by a 2-1 defeat to Fnatic. The loss seemed to kick them up a gear however, as they destroyed NiP 2-0 (16-3, 16-10) and went on to defeat FaZe 2-1 once again.
Despite having to battle through the loser bracket, unlike Liquid, their wins have been a little more impressive.
It will be incredibly close but the 1.84 odds on a NaVi win seems to be the best betting option, with map handicaps not providing favourable odds.
