It’s all come down to this. Thirty-two teams started this major. The final two have been decided. Underdogs ENCE faces off against possibly the best team in CS:GO history, Astralis. Will the wonder story continue for the Finns, or will the powerhouse of Astralis add another Major Championship to their list.
Nobody expected them to make it this far. They provide upset after upset through this major and well and truly deserve their spot in the final. After cementing themselves in the last eight teams. ENCE had to go through Liquid in the Quarterfinal and NaVi in the semi-final. Both of those teams are ranked in the top 4 in the world.
Apparently, rankings mean nothing in Finland. ENCE showed up against Liquid, executing vetoes perfectly and making an insane comeback to win the series 2-0.
Their momentum carried over to their opening game against NaVi where they started the series with a 16-14 win. Things quickly snowballed, however. NaVi delivered a 16-3 blow to ENCE, putting it down to the last map. Yet again ENCE made a fantastic comeback to win 16-14 and book a slot in the grand final.
There’s not much that can be said about this team. They have been completely and utterly elite in recent times. Winning the Grand Slam last year and aiming to start 2019 as they finished 2018. With a Major Championship.
Astralis faced off against two strong teams in bracket play; Ninjas in Pyjamas and MiBR. They took both series 2-0 and made it look relatively easy. It almost seems unfair to other teams sometimes with how well they execute. They’ve only dropped one map so far in this Major after joining in Legends Stage.
As much as I’d love to continue following the hype train of the underdogs, I can’t see them taking down another giant and lifting the trophy. I have Astralis winning IEM Katowice tomorrow, the first Major of the 2019 season.
Betting on the +1.5 Map Handicap for ENCE for odds of 2.09 is the best option in this series. I believe they’ll be able to win a map, just not be ready to go all the way. If you do want to keep supporting the underdogs; however, you can get odds of 4.15 for them to win the series.
