One of the first games in the New Legends Stage is between ENCE and AVANGAR. It may also be one of the more interesting games. ENCE did exceptionally well in Katowice and will hopefully provide greater team play in their first matchup of the tournament. AVANGAR will also be on the hunt for a victory in the first game of group play.
AVANGAR have attended Majors before, but have done little than make up the numbers for the events. Despite poor results at Major events, AVANGAR have been showing promise.
They made it through to the New Legends Stage after coming 7th in the New Challengers Stage, not the greatest position in the world, but 3-2 in games at a huge event such as StarLadder is a difficult task, just ask the 8 teams that didn’t make it.
AVANGAR have some real talent on their roster and will be hoping to take a map from what could be considered the easier of the Current Legends. ENCE will be hoping to prove that statement wrong.
After an astonishing second place at Katowice earlier this year, ENCE should be looking to recreate the success that brought Finnish fans together in support. In recent games, they have shown great promise, beating other Legends MIBR and RNG at IEM XIV in Chicago.
They may not be the favourites to win in Berlin but with a battle for the top spot going on, ENCE might be able to capitalize and claim a Major victory from out of nowhere.
In my opinion, ENCE should comfortably win against AVANGAR, I don’t expect a crushing defeat but it should be the type of victory that doesn’t shake up the Finnish players and make them worried.
For me, ENCE are the clear victors of this BO1. They’ve shown that they are capable when put in high-pressure LAN situations and their huge 2nd place to Astralis earlier this year puts them in a position of advantage over the less successful AVANGAR.
The outright odds for this game aren’t the best if you’re going to back my prediction. GG.BET has ENCE at 1.9 with a (-3.5) handicap to better your return.
