Evil Geniuses vs MiBR
This is potentially the best opening group stage match taking place at the CS:GO Asia Championship 2019. We have Evil Geniuses, a team with recent Championships but struggling with inconsistencies. They face off against MiBR, a team that’s struggled heavily this past year but might finally be on the rise once more.
The former NRG roster has seen great success since the move to Evil Geniuses. They came out on top at both ESL One New York and at the StarSeries & i-League Season 8 event. Despite picking up these two championships, there are always questions regarding their next performances looming over this roster.
The roster has always suffered from inconsistencies and it was probably the reason they haven’t racked up more Championships. They go to one event and destroy everyone and the next event they’ll get upset and eliminated early on. This makes it very hard to determine how far they’ll go in events.
The Brazilan squad exploded onto the world stage of Counter-Strike a few years ago when they initially played under SK and racked up multiple event wins. Since the move to MiBR they have been incredibly hit and miss, having not quite lived up to the hype surrounding them.
After losing Coldzera to FaZe, many people imagined it would be the end for this roster and the Brazilian legends would go their separate way. This wasn’t the case at all, they signed KNG who has proved to be crucial to their successes. Their consistency in performances has been improving and this event will prove as a good way to gauge exactly where they are at.
Two teams filled with talent but plague recently and in the past with inconsistencies, this isn’t an easy one to predict. This is why a +1.5 map handicap in MiBR’s favour at 1.65 odds is the best option for this series.
