Preview

Here we have two teams that had bumpy roads at Katowice. They clash in the opening set of games in Sao Paulo this weekend. Both reached the Quarter Final at the last major before getting knocked out. They also lost games that they really shouldn’t have. They were both the victim of upsets at the event.

FaZe

FaZe was a bundle of inconsistencies at their recent event. They attended Katowice last month, joining the competition at Legends Stage. They suffered defeats against Renegades and Avangar. Two teams that you would typically expect them to beat.

They did redeem their performances in the later stages of the tournament. They beat Complexity 2-1 and Cloud9 2-0. Both of those games were elimination games. So we know that they can come together and perform when it matters most.

I’d still hold a massive question mark over them for this event though. I think they’ll still be too inconsistent to make it through to the final. Despite this, they will still pick up a couple of wins.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NiP are desperately trying to reach the form of their past. Previously they were regarded as one of the greatest teams in CS:GO. Recently they have let that standard slip, with embarrassing losses and struggling to reach the vital stages of tournaments.

They managed to start fixing this at Katowice. Making it to the final 8 was a massive step forward for them, and hopefully, we can see them build from this. However, they still have some shocking losses at the Major. Some of these include a 16-6 loss to Winstrike and a 16-2 loss to Astralis.

My Prediction

I honestly think this match is incredibly hard to predict. With both teams being inconsistent recently, we never know what to expect from either of them. At the start of the month, Dennis had to step aside due to a personal issue. Meaning Draken has come in as a stand-in.

I think this will sway the series in the favour of FaZe. You can get odds of 1.95 for FaZe to win this match up. A win here is vital for FaZe if they want to have a chance of making it through to the grand final.
