MiBR vs Astralis IEM Katowice 2019 Semi Final

[ft_boxes box_style=’info’ ]Match: MiBR vs Astralis (IEM Katowice 2019 Champions Stage) | Prediction: MiBR +1.5 (Maps Handicap) | Odds: 1.67 | Bookmaker: GG.Bet | Match start: 2019-03-02 18.50 GMT +1[/ft_boxes]

A semi-final that is bound to be a thrilling experience. Two of the powerhouse teams in CS:GO will battle it out in the hope of earning their place in the grand final of the first Major of 2019.

The Brazilian squad had high expectations coming into Katowice. Ranked by many as one of the favourites to challenge Astralis for the Major Championship. Thanks to their performances in 2018, they entered this competition in the Legends Stage.

Despite the dip in performance against Cloud9, they had a relatively comfortable run through Legends and finished with a 3-1 record. Today their next challenge was Renegades in the Quarter-Final. MiBR came out on top 2-0, crushing the hopes and dreams of the underdogs. The first map was a masterclass performance that led to a 16-6 win.

It looked as if the second map was going in favour of Renegades as they held an 11-4 lead at half time. MiBR must have flicked on the switch during half time as they dominated the second half. They lost just one round and took the map 16-12.

The favourites to win the opening major of the year have confirmed themselves in the top 4. They now face off against MiBR to take it one step further. They’ve made it look easy so far. After completing the Grand Slam last year, they started in Legends Stage, much like MiBR.

They breezed through and qualified with a 3-0 record for the quarterfinals. The only team that seemed to cause them any trouble at all was Renegades in Advancement Round 1.

The quarter-final was against Ninjas in Pyjamas this morning. Astralis completely and utterly dismantled them in the opening map. They took Mirage 16-2, and it looked like they were ready to steamroll NiP. However, NiP finally woke up and battled all the way to Round 30 on Dust 2. Astralis managed to clutch up and win 16-14, securing their spot in the semi-final.

My Prediction

This matchup could very easily have been the grand final if the bracket had fallen differently. I believe Astralis are going to make it to yet another final. Meaning, a Map Handicap bet on MiBR of +1.5 would be my preference as you can get odds of 1.67 on it.

This is a series that should go down to the wire, meaning a single map win for MiBR would win the map handicap bet.
