Both of these teams finished top of their respective Qualifiers and as a result, a lot of interest surrounds this NA – CIS matchup. DreamEaters are new to the Major scene whereas NRG have some experienced players on their side. Despite DreamEaters not being overly recognized, their recent results outshine those of NRG.
This NA powerhouse has seen some action in tier 1 scene. They have a Major winner on their side and have played relatively well in recent LAN events. NRG finished 5-6th at ESL One Cologne, losing out to Vitality 2-0 but after more practice and more time to solidify the roster, they’ll be looking to kickstart the StarLadder Berlin Major with a bang.
NRG have shown their ability to defeat Major worthy opponents such as INTZ and FURIA, beating both teams 2-0 in BO3 matches. They also have a higher map win percentage on 4 of the 7 competitive map pool levels. This shows that despite the rocky performances experienced by NRG in recent times, they still have the capability of defeating DreamEaters.
DreamEaters have been playing well in online matches recently, picking up some 2-1 and 2-0 results against Tier 2 rosters. They’ve done well to make it through to Berlin after finishing 3rd in the CIS Minor Championship, behind ForZe and Syman. They don’t have the experience of NRG but won’t go down without a fight, especially in the first game of the Major.
The issue with this CIS team is the lack of knowledge and confidence you gain from playing repeatedly at a high level. Players like Tarik from NRG, know what it takes to win a Major championship. The mistakes that you can get away with in Tier 3 and even Tier 2 matches can cause tremendous damage when playing in a high-stress environment, and the DreamEaters players may not have the experience necessary to cope with this level of play.
The odds stack in favour of NRG 2.29 to DreamEaters 4.75 with a map 1 handicap of (–7.5) @ GG.BET. I’d agree with the odds behind this match. NRG are the clear favourites to win against DreamEaters, even though the two teams have never faced off at this level. NRG to win in a comfortable victory.
