Things are spicing up this week with the CWL Championship 2019 right around the corner. The 32 best teams in the world will be meeting in Los Angeles to battle it out for their share of the $2,000,000 prize pool.
OpTic and EG are two teams hoping to make it far will face off in their final group stage match. This could have a major influence on seeding for the championship bracket and how the event plays out.
OpTic started this Black Ops 4 season incredibly strong. They came into the opening event in Vegas and blitzed the competition to take home the first trophy of the season. Since then, they’ve had several hiccups at events this year. With crashing out early or struggling to perform at a high level late in the tournament, it’s been a bleak year for the OpTic fans.
Despite this, OpTic have remained at a high level throughout the Pro League, winning their division. If they can find their form from the Pro League and put in a solid amount of practice in these final days, they could be a true contender to win CWL Champs 2019.
EG haven’t had the best of seasons with many ups and downs, but they looked much better at Playoffs in Miami. They stormed through the Play-In matches to look in one of the final playoff spots. Then they got hit hard by Reciprocity in Round 1 of playoffs, but it took a 3-2 defeat against 100 Thieves to eliminate them.
This means they may not be a top contender to win Champs, but they have the calibre to cause some upsets. There is a likelihood both EG and OpTic will have 2-0 records coming into this final game. This means they’ll be battling it out for the better seeding.
I think it’s fair to say most people will be expecting an OpTic victory in this match-up. Although I won’t rule out the potential EG have to take the series, I’ve found what should be the safest bet with good odds. You can get a +1.5 map handicap for EG at 1.73 odds. This means if EG lose the series 3-2, the bet will still win.
