Renegades were one of the two major upset runs at IEM Katowice 2019. They pulled off a 3-0 record in Challengers Stage, 3-1 in Legends and finished with a top 8 placing. Meanwhile, Tyloo showed promise but fell out of Challengers with a 1-3 record.
This is a roster that are always exciting to watch at events. They’re written off from almost every event and match up, but always put on a show. Despite not making it past Challengers Stage at the last Major, they still put on some great performances.
Their losses came against NRG, Avangar, and G2. However, these were all close games, and they will have been able to go home and learn from their mistakes. I can’t see them finishing in the top 8 of group play here, but I think they’ll cause a potential upset or two.
2019 has been successful for the Renegades team. They came out in 1st place at the Asia Minor Championship for Katowice. Despite having to go through Minor qualifiers, they still managed to work through the stages and make a quarterfinal appearance.
The amount of potential the roster showed was fantastic but haven’t attended an event since. I feel like this is a massive moment for the players, the team and the organisation. It could propel them forward for this year. On the flipside, they could sink back to Minor level and become a one-off event success.
I’m confident that Renegades are going to come on top in this series, but the odds for them to win are 1.52. So, looking at an alternative bet could be a wise move. I think going for a bold bet on this game could work a treat. You can get 2.64 odds on a -1.5 handicap to Renegades. Meaning that they must win the series 2-0 for you to win the bet.
