Here we have two of the best teams in the tournament clashing in the final set of group stage matches. Both teams have started the event well, with Vici falling slightly off the pace in todays matches. This match up could have a great influence on how bracket play falls.
With two days of action over, they currently hold a 3-1-1 record and are tied for 2nd place in Group B alongside Natus Vincere. Vici play Natus Vincere in their second last group stage game. They then go on to play their match against OG. This means that day 4 of the group stage could write the story of how this event goes for the Chinese roster.
Coming into this event Vici were ranked 3rd in the Dota Pro Circuit so should be set to make it out of groups fairly comfortably. They will most likely head into the final day of the group stage having confirmed a spot in the winner’s bracket. However, their seeding could change depending on their results.
Despite being ranked 10th in the Dota Pro Circuit prior to the event, they have had an extremely strong start. After their glory run last year to win the event, we can’t be surprised that they have come out of the block firing on all cylinders.
OG are currently propped up in 1st place in Group B with a 4-1-0 record. Their next two games are against Virtus.Pro and Fnatic, two teams battling it out in the middle of the table. They should be able to continue building confidence during these games before heading into their final game against Vici.
With these series only containing two maps, there is a huge possibility of the game ending in a tie. Despite this, I think a map handicap is the best option in this case. Although OG have had a strong start, Vici are still favourites. You can get 1.59 odds on a +1.5 map handicap in OG’s favour. This means they only need to win 1 of the two maps for the bet to win.
